Celebrate the Season
Celebrate the Season annual Dream It Dinner set for Dec. 1.
Tickets are now available for our popular annual fundraiser, the Dream It Dinner & Auction set in a winter wonderland at the Port of Anacortes Event Center. The evening will feature a delicious dinner catered by Gere-a-Deli, and a lively auction. Doors will open at 6:00 PM with dinner at 7:00 PM, followed by the auction.
Just $75 gets you into the dinner and offers an opportunity to support the Anacortes Schools Foundation and all our school kids.
This year, our auction will help fund an ambitious program to send all Fifth-graders to "Mountain School," at the North Cascades Institute. Learn more about Mountain School here.
Sponsors for this year’s “Celebrate the Season” Lead sponsors are Fidalgo Island Rotary and the Port of Anacortes. Additional sponsors include Trident Seafoods, Diamond Rentals, Kiwanis Sunrisers, T-Shirts by Design, Andeavor, Conrardy Design Group, Washington Tractor and Anacortes Financial Associates.
Later in December, we open the Events Center for two days of family-oriented fun. The Family Holiday Fair part of “Celebrate the Season” is set for Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9. Doors open from noon to 4 on both days. Admission is free due to the generosity of Damon Orthodontics and Playhouse Dental, who are sponsoring these two days.
Volunteers are essential to bring this event to reality. Taking lead this year is Fidalgo Island Rotary Club. The club has committed to building all the sets that transform the Port of Anacortes “Event Center” into a magical winter wonderland. In addition, during the Holiday Family Fair weekend, the Rotary Club will again present their “Who-ville” experience which includes games, crafts and occasional visits by the Grinch. In addition to the Rotarians, volunteers from Anacortes Arts Festival will again decorate the soaring feature tree.
Guests will be able to enjoy some special entertainment with the Fidalgo Elementary choir at noon and Island View Soaring at 1 PM. Other activities include photos with Santa, play games and enjoy some holiday treats. On Sunday the focus is on Gingerbread. Student and adult teams will again compete in decorating houses for prizes and bragging rights. The Gingerbread contest is being chaired by Michelle Stahl, and there are still openings in each of the two divisions. The entries will be judged by local community leaders. In addition, children of all ages will be able to decorate their own “mini-house” to take home.
